During the marine pollution control exercise conducted on 24 November, real resources were deployed in order to counter the effects of a fictious crude spill from a failure of the unloading equipment of an oil tanker at the monobouy, with drift reaching land in the Huelva river estuary and with risk of the oil being taken up the river on a rising tide. Private terminals, the Port Authority, 112 (emergency services) and the Harbour Master took part.

This was a marine pollution control exercise at provincial level, part of the training and regular drill programme of the National Maritime plan, defined in Article 30 of the FOM/1793/2014. Order.
